A little further north of Lahaina and just to the south of Kahana, Kaanapali’s weather is slightly cooler (that’s a relative term here in Hawaii) and it gets a little more rain. Kaanapali averages temperatures in the low 80s year-around and averages about 50 days of rainfall per year (and it almost never, ever rains all day).
Did you know? There is a daily cliff diving ceremony off Kaanapali beach northernmost cliffs known as Puu Kekaa (Black Rock). Every evening at sunset, a cliff diver lights the torches along the cliff and then dives off of Black Rock in a reenactment of a feat by Maui’s revered King Kahekili.
The main area – Whalers Village – is right in the heart of Kaanapali along beautiful Pacific Ocean with stunning views of Lana’i, Moloka’i and year-around sunsets.
Kaanapali is the only area on the west side of Maui’s that is approved for golf cart use on roadways… and there is plenty of golf cart parking everywhere you go.
